IP TV COMING SOON IN NEPAL

If everything works fine and goes on time, next year this time Nepal Telecom’s customers will be using PSTN (Landline) telephone, accessing high-speed internet and watching cable TV simultaneously via same wire. Nepal Telecom, a leading telecommunication company in Nepal, yesterday announced a tender to the interested companies who could set the instruments and infra structure required for this Next Generation Network (NGN). NGN is new technology based on the optical fiber system which provides quality telephoning service as well as very high speed internet. The speed of internet based on NGN will be higher than the on-going ADSL net. Moreover, a cable TV based on internet will be also provided with this NGN. The TV of this type is called IP TV or Internet Protocol TV. The main features of this type of TV are:
  • The strength of this TV is very strong resulting in High Quality Picture.
  • Since this TV is flowing through Optical fiber,  the natural phenomenon like wind, rain and lightening wouldn’t affect its performance
  • Since it is based on internet both live TV and recorded TV can be accessed through it.
The NGN was recently introduced in India by Airtel. Nepal Telecom says it is also working hard to provide this new facility to its users. So lets keep our fingers crossed and lets wait and see whether NT will keep its word or not.
