How To Install Unity 5.0 In Ubuntu 11.10

The Ubuntu 11.10 users can install and test Unity 5.0, thanks to the power of PPA. You just need to remember that Unity 5.0 is not stable yet and it might break certain things. I have been using it on my systems for a while now and it is working fine. Then, Ubuntu users don't fear of trying new things, right? So, here we go.

Open the terminal and run this command
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:unity-team/staging

Then update the repositories
sudo apt-get update

And now upgrade the system by running this command:
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Nevertheless, I know that on the traditional desktop, the vast majority of ordinary users are running Windows, and don’t even get me started on “The Year of the Linux Desktop.” It’s not going to happen. But, and this is interesting, it appears that there is a slight upward trend in desktop Linux use.

First reported by Katherine Noyes on Linux Insider, it turns out that the Web research firm Net Applications’data show that Linux’s desktop market share has been growing , from a mere 0.97 percent in July, 2011 to a new high of 1.41 percent in January, 2012.
